Commissioned by BCycle Solutions and developed by Spark, the SecuBike is a bike locker that provides on the doorstep security and shelter for up to five bicycles. The compact bike shelter is a simple and honest product, designed for maximum practical use of public urban space.
Tilting roof
The SecuBike is compact with a friendly and transparent character. The clever opening mechanism operates smoothly and easily. The door and the roof tilt upwards in one motion with a minimum of effort, creating substantial headroom inside the locker. The entire construction, including the bicycle rack, is mounted off the floor, which stops the accumulation of litter. The curved design of the roof means that it stays free of dirt, leaves and water.
The robust steel construction of the SKG-approved SecuBike guarantees that the bike locker is burglary and vandalism resistant. The attractive form is inspired by designs from the car industry and is in harmony with the streetscape. The SecuBike fits easily on to the pavement or in half a car parking space.
Clever parking system
With SecuBike, Spark and BCycle Solutions have anticipated a large demand from both local councils and companies for a smart parking system for bicycles. A secure and dry shelter improves the urban bike mobility and encourages bicycle use. This fits well with the cycling policies of local councils, the need for more physical activity and efforts to reduce CO2-emissions.
