A flying start
“I quickly grew into my role thanks to the warm welcome. My colleagues were enthusiastic about my arrival and immediately showed genuine interest. Before I knew it, my week was packed: I’m already working on two major projects. That makes me happy because I can contribute right away. My mentor provides a reassuring presence. I can always approach someone, even with small questions, without being micromanaged. It’s a great way to get settled in.
Before joining Spark, I worked at two tech startups, spending several years on one large project at each. Now, I want to gain experience with a wide variety of projects to explore more diversity.
Spark as a dream workplace
After working in a startup environment, I was eager to join an established company. Spark had been on my radar since my studies at TU Delft. During guest lectures, they presented various case studies, and the impression I got was that Spark is an exemplary place for industrial designers. It aligns almost seamlessly with what I learned during my studies: constantly solving problems and identifying opportunities for innovation. Here, you get that chance repeatedly, and I find that incredibly inspiring.
I’m also drawn to the products Spark has brought to market. The work for The Ocean Cleanup resonates with me because of its sustainability aspect. I’m equally impressed by the complex projects in the medical sector. As a designer, you navigate a web of requirements, constraints, and stakeholders to find the best solutions. That challenging process deeply appeals to me.
