A GIO and a Special Award for LEA!

Seeing how our care robot LEA improves and enriches the lives of her users will always be the best reward. That’s not to say that we’re not incredibly proud of the GIO 2018 that we received in Kerkrade for LEA. The fact that the announcement took place on the eve of Dutch Design Week was, of course, a fantastic bonus.

Commitment

The GIO – short for ‘recognition of Good Industrial Design’ – is one of the most prominent prizes in the field of innovation and design in the Netherlands. So, when, in addition to a GIO, the jury also gave us the Special Award for the Respect category, it was the icing on the cake. Robert Barnhoorn, partner at Spark: “This is the third time that we’ve won the Special Award for Respect. And it is always an honour. In fact, this time we’re probably even happier than we were to receive the first two, precisely because we see our commitment to innovation for the healthcare sector confirmed and rewarded.”

In real life

The LEA could be admired in the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven during the design week. Did you miss it? No worries. Anyone wanting to see LEA in real life can still do so by visiting the Cube museum in Kerkrade until April 2019, where no less than two models are exhibited: on in the “LUXE?” exhibition and one in the exhibition showcasing all the winning entries to GIO 2018.
