AP600: first access point with g-radio

February 1, 2004

An innovation in wireless networks: the AP600. This single-radio access point, with which companies or organisations can easily install their own wireless LAN, was designed by Spark for Proxim, a US based company.

Spark produced a design and product strategy that formed a basis from which the access point was then developed. The AP600 platform is suitable for migration to new wireless network standards (802.11b, g and a).

The access point is easy to mount on the wall, above or below ceilings, and may also be placed facing downwards. The access point is fire resistant which makes is suitable for use in public areas. With minimal cost and time, the product’s brand identity can be changed without having to be recertified.

Spark oversaw manufacturing of the AP600 working with various contractors and suppliers in Asia.
