SecuBike Takes New York

June 1, 2011

The SecuBike has begun its march on New York and environs. Since the beginning of May the compact and secure bike locker adorns the doorstep of Rolling Orange, a top bicycle business in Brooklyn, which exclusively delivers Dutch quality.

Since then, several bike lockers have been sold. The Americans are crazy about them, says Gerrit Littouw from BCycle Solutions. ‘Cycling is really taking off here. Americans are buying increasingly expensive bikes. At the same time, there is a shortage of storage space and there are a lot of problems with vandalism. Rolling Orange is convinced that the SecuBike will make it here'.

Rolling Orange introduced the SecuBike on 30 April at The New Amsterdam Bicycle Show, the inaugural New York bicycle show. The interest was overwhelming, says Littouw. That smacks of further expansion. ‘But for now we are limiting it to one sales point. We want to enter into discussions with the American market'.
