We were thinking mostly about the transportation of children and shopping when we developed the Babboe; meteorologists in Rotterdam, however, think very differently about it. They've loaded up the cargo bike with all kinds of measuring equipment and regularly ride it around Rotterdam. In this way they hope to get a better understanding of the factors that influence the climate in the city. So that in the future, planners can design cities that don't warm up unnecessarily.
And they take with them...
So what do they take in the cargo bike? A fast thermometer, a humidty measure, a sensor for wind direction and speed, sensors for determining the amount of sunlight, heat exchange sensors and a camera with a fisheye lens. All these instruments are powered by a solar panel.
