Dentist treatment in your wheel chair

Spark has developed the unique “Wheel Chair Manipulator” for the Centre for Rheumatism and Rehabilitation in Rotterdam.

More and more elderly people are stuck to their wheel chair either temporarily or permanently. And more and more of them still have their own teeth, which makes dentist treatment necessary.

The transfer of a wheel chair to a dental treatment chair is an exhausting, time-consuming and sometimes even painful activity. Often, it cannot take place without aid and appliances. For a dentist, the treatment of a wheel chair tied customer is no pleasure, because he often has to work in an ergonomically unacceptable position.

Spark has developed this unique “Wheel Chair Manipulator” for the Centre for Rheumatism and Rehabilitation in Rotterdam. Wheel chair users can now remain seated in their own wheel chair during dental treatment. The Manipulator clasps the wheel chair and tilts it backwards, so that the patient is positioned comfortably, and in an ergonomically correct position for both patient and dentist. This universal device is suitable for nearly all types of wheel chairs and after treatment it disappears entirely in the floor. Therefore the treatment area can be used multifunctional.
