Two GIO Awards for Spark

Two GIO Awards for Spark

The GIO Awards 2012 have been announced: the only prize in our country that honours the craft of both designer and client.

October 24, 2012

In order to qualify for this hallmark of Good Industrial Design, the product has to be more than just beautiful. Functionality, innovation, originality, respect and utility are equally important. According to the jury, the stair-walking aid StairWalker, the alarm system Verklizan SecuLink and Viedome Vieconnector amply met these criteria . So, from now on, they can also carry the logo of Good Industrial Design!

The GIO Award – similar to the American Idea Award and the German Red dot and iF-Award - is a much sought after recognition of the professionalism of the designer and the client. Of the almost 80 products submitted into five categories, 69 have been recognised as good industrial design this year. The entries from Spark design & innovation were judged in the ‘Professional products’ category by the independent expert jury, chaired by Prof. Wim Poelman. The GIO awards were presented on Wednesday 24 oktober, at a dinner held in honour of Dutch Design Week in the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven. View the photo's of the event here.

The annual GIO awards are organised by Designlink. Designlink is an independent franchise that brings together demand, supply, knowledge and policy strands in the field of product design. Its goal is to encourage and promote the development and professionalisation of Industrial Design in the Netherlands.
