Casserole meal heater

Healthy, tasty and easy

The Casserole is a meal heater that preserves the cherished rituals associated with dining. It allows for serving a delicious meal from an evocative serving dish and eating from one's own plate, eliminating the need for disposable packaging. This not only enhances the enjoyment of meals for the elderly but also reduces the risk of malnutrition.

We have designed the Casserole in such a way that it can heat ready-to-eat meals slowly and evenly, so all the ingredients keep their nutritional value and taste.

Familiar form

The Casserole concept is rooted in the traditional eating pattern of cooking in the kitchen and dining at the table. To emphasize this, we have distinguished between form and function. The round shape, black color, and graphics of the base, used for meal heating, resemble a hotplate. The lidded white dish, with its color, radii, and wall thickness, evokes a traditional ceramic serving dish. Once the meal is warmed, it can be conveniently taken to the table and served.

User testing

Throughout the design process, we actively engaged with food vendors, healthcare institutions, and distributors to leverage their expertise. Moreover, we conducted user tests in their own homes to optimize the concept design further.

Made in Holland

The Casserole is proudly manufactured in the Netherlands, with assembly taking place in a social workshop. The clever design allows for easy assembly, disassembly, and separation of materials.
