Faster and better suturing

Accuracy

Meet the Mellon Switch®. This handheld instrument helps to suture blood vessels quickly and in a controlled manner. With the switch the surgeon only needs one hand to handle the needle. Leaving the other hand for handling the tissue.

The Switch® comes from an ambitious start-up. The goal: to develop an innovation that allows faster and more efficient performance of vital operations. Spark designed the concept, developed the microtechnology and created the brand identity.

Collaboration

Achieving a breakthrough like this is a huge challenge, especially for medical products. Material and production technology at the micro level require deep engineering skills and far-reaching collaboration with suppliers.

Risk class III

This is a class III medical device. We have followed Mellon's QMS and developed in accordance with ISO 13485. For example, for each prototype to be validated, the origin of materials and assembly steps were recorded and verified down to the smallest detail.

Award winning

The Switch® won the 2016 Dragon's Den Innovation Showcase at Charing Cross: Europe's largest vascular and endovascular symposium. Mellon also won the 1st prize of the Startup50, part of StartupFest Europe.

This challenge was meaningful to us. The Mellon Switch® can save lives, and until now nothing like this existed at all.
