Innovative features
Holmatro tools are about ‘mastering power’. This means innovations should empower the user. The stable carrying grip, the integrated lighting and the interchangeable battery platform are examples of this. Also, the information backbone allows the user to read diagnostic information directly from the tool.
A first
The new carrying grip on the Pentheon models portrays Spark's multidisciplinary strength in materials science, manufacturing, design and usability. The grip is manufactured from plastic by gas injection moulding; a first for this type of product and this sector. This reduces the weight, enables it to bend and rebound when used in tight spaces and is more cost effective to produce. While plastic was regarded as inferior, we proved it to be more rugged than the aluminium grip.
Implementation
Having designers and engineers collaborating during the entire project is key for a successful design and fluent implementation into production. The Holmatro team did an amazing job in realising not one product, but already a line of 15 new Pentheon tools.
Gold
As part of the integrated design approach, the new aesthetic design for the Pentheon series was created. Spark designer Diederik Augustijn: “The challenge was to empower the rescue worker with something that radiates its essence: an effective and strong tool”. Winning the IF Gold Award in 2022 beautifully underlines the value of the close collaboration between design & engineering.
